These notes cover some of the highlights of the OrigamiUSA Board meeting of January 10, 2008.
A memorial website has been setup for V'Ann Cornelius and arrangements have been made to send flowers to the memorial service.
Wendy Zeichner, the treasurer, reported that PCOC financials are being reviewed. The 2006 books will be closed and archived to allow for entry of 2008 activity.
The current membership is 1623, compared with 1612 last month and 1553 a year ago. A membership survey is still in the works.
The Volunteer Recognition Committee has begun work on the design of this year's pin.
Jan Polish and Tony Cheng met with a representative of the Parrish Museum in Southampton, NY to discuss our support of an exhibit which will run from April 6th to June 15th. OrigamiUSA will be lending models for this exhibit. This is a great opportunity for public relations and education about origami.
Issue #97 of The Paper is with the designer. Issue #98 is in progress and will contain good coverage of the Holiday Tree.
The Policies and Procedures Committee has been gathering procedure documents from the various committees and hopes to present a draft of all compiled procedures to the Board in February 2008.
The Library Committee continues to add books to the Library including some books that will be donated by Florence Temko. A motion was passed to cover the cost of additional cabinets.
The Lending Library has requested a full set of The Paper from the very beginning. The feasibility of this is being investigated.
Tony Cheng met with Kathryn Wagner, new chair of the Archives Committee, to review the models that are part of the permanent exhibition models. A complete database with pictures is now available for reference.
A full inventory of The Source is scheduled for January and a projected inventory sale is scheduled for February or March.
There was an opportunity to exhibit origami at the Tourneau store, but no one from the Exhibition Committee was available to do a walkthrough. Tony Cheng volunteered and will report back.
This year's Origami By Children display will be taken down from the Donnell Public Library in midtown Manhattan on January 12th, 2008.
The Holiday tree was taken down on January 8th. Thanks to the Tree Committee for all their hard work. A suggestion was made to put photos of each stage of the process of putting up the tree be available on the website.
The next Special Folding Fun Sessions will be on January 13, 2008. The December session was a success. Preparations for the Spring sessions to be held in March, April and May are in progress.
Toby Schwartz will compile the Board Notes in February.
