What are the benefits of joining?
- The quarterly magazine, The Paper, features articles on activities, folding, and folders, along with fine origami diagrams, some not available elsewhere.
- The mail-order Origami Source stocks a wide variety of origami books, folding paper, supplies, and novelty items, all at a 10% members discount.
- The Lending Library offers a unique opportunity to borrow origami books by mail to members residing in the continental USA or Canada.
- The Annual Convention, open only to members, is a memorable meeting of many folders, creators, and origami enthusiasts.
- The Annual Collection book, which all Convention attendees receive, is a valuable addition to your origami library.
- Special Sessions and Folding Fun Fests are teaching events we hold at various times of the year. A wide variety of classes are offered, and some models are taught by their creators.
- Members are invited to attend Folding Free For Alls, informal monthly gatherings held at the American Museum of Natural History.
What does it cost to join?
It varies: amounts are given below. Remember that we are a not-for-profit organization and your membership contribution is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
The following categories are for one individual member. Benefits include The Paper (quarterly magazine), use of the Lending Library (continental USA & Canada), attendance at Folding Free For All, attendance at the annual Convention at the current price, a discount on Special Sessions and Folding Fun Fests, and a 10% discount on most Origami Source purchases.
Total amount is tax deductible
- J - $20 / JUNIOR: (18 years and younger)
- I - $30 / INDIVIDUAL: (US resident)
- N - $40 / NEIGHBOR: (Canada & Mexico)
- O - $45 / OVERSEAS: (Overseas)

The following categories are for families or individuals wishing to make an extra contribution to the organization.
- F - $50 / FAMILY: (Family is defined as two adults and four children age 18 and under, mailings only to one address). Benefits are the same as the individual category but for all family members.
Total amount is tax deductible.
- C - $100 / CONTRIBUTING: Benefits are the same as the Family category, plus one Specialty Paper of our choosing.
$63 is tax deductible.
- S - $125 / SPONSOR: Benefits are the same as the Family category, plus one Origami Book from a selected list, and the member's name will be published in the Annual Report (member may request no publication).
$100 is tax deductible.
- P - $250 / PATRON: Benefits are the same as the Family category, plus one Specialty Paper of our choosing, one Origami Book from a selected list, and the member's name will be published in the Annual Report (member may request no publication).
$213 is tax deductible.
- B - $500 / BENEFACTOR: Benefits are the same as the Family category, plus one Specialty Paper of our choosing, one Origami Book from a selected list, and the member's name will be published in the Annual Report (member may request no publication). In addition, one member may attend convention free, or may assign this benefit to another member or may allocate the benefit to be put into an OrigamiUSA scholarship fund, to be distributed to a member in need at the Board's discretion.
$400 is tax deductible.
- G - $1000 / GUARDIAN: Members at the Guardian level will receive all benefits of the Benefactor level, plus one of the following: 1) special priority ticketing at the Annual Convention, or 2) a special book or package of paper not available in the US, or 3) an exquisite floral corsage pin created by OrigamiUSA Board Member June Sakamoto.
$850 is tax deductible.
